Rose Garden Renovations-Chapter 3
Well- here you are! I am so relieved to be done (for the most part). This was a massive project, and required incredible diligence and hard labor. But- I must say the results are worth it! I love to sit in the gazebo and look out onto the roses. This part of the garden was designed on an axis with the center fountain. I love the tidiness this part of the garden emits-much in contrast to my 'uncultured' lower garden (wild thing it is!!) The roses are totally recovered from their move, and are bountiful with blooms! I am SO inthralled and fascinated with roses right now...just cannot get enough of them, and I have a new found respect for them. I know you cannot really judge the scale of the rose garden from this photo, but there are 210 bushes out there. And since I've really been reading and researching a lot on roses, their history, and their numerous varieties, I'm ready for many more, which I know will come, so I've left LOTS of room for more as I acquire them. Can you see the white pillars for the climbers in the left of the photo above? I love them, and now I plan to suspend heavy ropes in between them for the roses to climb over. I can envision a 'wall' of bloom there in June. Here's a good shot of the pillars below-
So that's the update-I hope you enjoyed it! Check out our web site pretty soon, because now we're going to be hosting workshops -in the garden- this fall! The first workshop will be, of course, POSIES! The dates of the workshops will be posted on our site within a couple of weeks-exciting!
